Equipment and Facilities
Mangosa employs advanced technology and the most modern equipment, both in micro aspersion irrigation and in post-harvest product handling. The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) certifies its processing and packaging facilities. Mangosa has successfully exported to the US and to Europe since 1995. Thanks to its equipment and facilities, during the year 2004, Mangosa exported over 550,000 (actualizar)boxes of mango . Mangosa projects that for next year its export volume will increase to 1.0 Million boxes and double to 2.0 Million boxes by 2010 without the need to invest in new equipment. actualizar

Despite the fact that the national electricity grid reaches its property, Mangosa has two power generators. Its generators' capacity is 330kv and 150kv, respectively, and provides with back-up power in case of power failure or in case of low quality power for the production and processing of its products. Its facilities include 2,970 m 2 of building and covered work areas.

Its farm is equipped with the following:

Irrigation Pumping Stations

Mangosa has two pumping stations that are used to meet its irrigation needs. Pumping Station No. 1 consists of two micro aspersion irrigation units and two gravity irrigation units. The micro aspersion units are powered by 75 HP motors (with Y / Delta starters made by Siemens), with a Cornell Pump Co. 4-hh75-4 pump capable of handling 1,200 GPM (8” suctions and 4” discharge). The gravity irrigation pump units are powered by 75 HP motors (with direct Square D starters) and Speck Pump Co. NA 40 pumps capable of handling 7,000 GPM (24” suction and 16” discharge).

Pumping Station No. 2 has 2 units. The first is powered by a Caterpillar Model 3304 90 HP motor (with a direct Square D starter) and a Magrini CSL AP-D pump capable of handling 400 GPM (6” suction and 4” discharge). The second unit is powered by an International Model GP-1760 120 HP motor (with a direct Square D starter) and a Harland Multi Phase pump capable of handling 1,200 GPM (10” suction and 8” discharge).

Farm Equipment

1. Tractors: Mangosa has 5 tractors, all of them in operating condition. Fits of them are Russian made Belarus MTZ 80's powered by an 80 HP motor. The other is a Russian T-150K with a 150 HP engine. Mangosa uses the tractors to till its lands, to transport fruit to its processing facility and to apply chemicals. It is difficult to obtain spare parts for these units so Mangosa intend to replace them with US made equipment in the near future as part of its capital expenditure program.

2. Other Equipment : Mangosa has all the necessary machinery and equipment to cultivate different rotation crops and maintenance of the plantation. Some of the equipment is listed below:

  • 3 disc plows, used for heavy tilling
  • Rome plows, used for mango Weed control
  • 3 units with 32 small disc plows, used for light tilling
  • Weed controllers
  • Land levelers
  • Six 500 gallon Jacto field sprayers, used to apply pesticide and flowering inducers.
  • Four portable water tanks for field applications (two 500 gallon and two 1,000 gallon capacity)
  • Eight trailer containers, used to transport fruit to its processing facility.
